Do You Dare to Drive Jiefang Truck without a Cab?

The rapid development of smart technologies heralds the irresistible development of smart cars, because smart driving technologies not only free drivers' hands, but also reduce accidents and improve road and car utilization. In April 2017, FAW Jiefang completed the first field test of a smart commercial vehicle. In October of the same year, the expressway test of an L3 smart truck was successful, marking the first-ever application of smart driving to a commercial vehicle in an expressway environment in China.

It is reported that FAW Jiefang has successfully developed the seventh-generation heavy trucks and L4 series smart cars. From the photos published by FAW Jiefang in advance, we can see that this smart port freight truck has no cab, which means that FAW Jiefang's smart technology has truly made unmanned driving possible.

The successful drive test of the L3 series smart trucks is the first step for FAW Jiefang to explore intelligent technology. The L4 series smart cars are the perfect showcase for FAW Jiefang's intelligent R&D strength to a new level. According to FAW Jiefang's technicians, both L3 and L4 series are autonomous vehicles and all the driving operations are performed by the system. However, L3 can only run under limited road and environmental conditions—for example, on an expressway, while L4 serves all road and environmental conditions and can travel from the point of departure to the destination without manual assistance.
