Mercedes-Benz Actros C Wins the 2024 Truck of the Year in China (TOYC 2024) Award

On November 10, 2023, the results of the “2024 Chinese Truck of the Year Evaluation” organized by Commercial Vehicle Magazine were announced. The Mercedes-Benz Actros C was awarded the "Truck of the Year in China" award in 2024. Dr. Holger Scherr, President and CEO of BFDA and Head of Mercedes-Benz Business Unit, received the trophy and certificate of the 2024 Truck of the Year in China on behalf of the company.

The CTOY Evaluation was founded by the Commercial Vehicle Magazine in 2015. Based on the successful experience of introducing the European "International Truck of the Year" evaluation event and in conjunction with China's road and logistics conditions, it is a technology-guided evaluation event aimed at selecting the "Chinese Truck of the Year" model. In 2023, the evaluation event was enhanced by introducing the "Truck of the Year in China (TOYC)" award to recognize international brand trucks that have achieved exclusive R&D and manufacturing in the Chinese market.

The award-winning Mercedes-Benz Actros C-series tractor upholds the "In China for China" value proposition. It concurrently embraces the latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz Truck Actros platform. This model has undergone extensive adjustments and calibrations tailored to logistics usage scenarios in China to ensure a leading fuel-efficient, intelligent, safe, and effortless enhanced driving experience. It caters to the unique requirements of high-end tractor customers, providing a cost-effective gateway for customers to access world-class heavy truck technology and quality.

Being the first Mercedes-Benz Trucks model produced in China, the Actros C is equipped with an advanced and cutting-edge Cummins engine along with a ZF AMT transmission, both leading technologies in the Chinese market. The entire vehicle undergoes extensive adjustments and calibration by the global R&D team of Mercedes- Benz Trucks. Since its launch on the market, it has garnered widespread favor from customers due to its exceptionally low fuel consumption, user-friendly driving experience, and comprehensive safety enhancements. Additionally, the excellent product performance has earned unanimous praise from both expert and user judges.

During the actual road test, the Actros C equipped with ACC (adaptive cruise control) and PPC (predictive powertrain control) systems, left a lasting impression on both experts and user judges. In comparison to the ACC function of other vehicles, the Mercedes-Benz Actros C offers simpler handling and more accurate vehicle identification, instilling greater confidence in the driver during operation. Simultaneously, when combined with the PPC function, the vehicle can anticipate road conditions up to 2 kilometers ahead using high-precision electronic maps. This enables economical coasting and pre-emptive upshifting and downshifting operations, effectively preventing inefficient use of throttle and brakes and achieving fuel efficiency.
